Redwood, Cedar & Composite Signs

Sign Materials

Redwood -
The best of the best. Redwood has long-lasting performance and an incredibly rich apperence. Redwood is also less likely to warp, split, cup or check than other woods sometimes used in the sign industry. Our signs are constructed using 2"x 8" kiln dried redwood boards. These individual boards are edge laminated to create any custom sign panel size. Along with it's superior exterior durability, redwood is also known for it's rich red coloration. Our boards are made "as is" or can be painted to match your needs.

Cedar - A Wonderful softwood with unique characteristics, grains and excellent mother nature durability. Though tried year after year, technology after technology, cedar's awesome qualities just can't seem to be duplicated artificially. Our cedar signs utilize 2"x8" kiln dried cedar. The individual boards are edge laminated to create any custom sign panel size. Cedar has some similar characteristics as Redwood.  The most noted difference with the two is in the color - cedar is more of a brown to redwoods "red".

High Density Urethane (HDU) - High density urethane has been used commercially as insulation and tooling for several decades but has more recently proven itself in the sign industry.  HDU is very versatile and track proven for superb, lightweight sign performance. We typically use HDU for interior 3D sign projects.

Extira - a wood composite material that has been manufactured for exterior use. Extira has superb resistance to moisture, and most of what Mother nature can dish out. Extira sandblasts with a pebbled textured background similar to HDU with slightly larger pebbles.

Sign Processes

Sandblasted process - This process displays a recessed background and raised text and graphics. A Rubber sandblast mask is computer cut to your sign design and applied to your particular sign panel. , The mask is removed, in the areas of the sign that will be recessed, to allow the sand to penetrate the panel surface and blast away the substrate. We then paint or stain your newly made sign to match your needs.

CNC Routed Signs- This is  basically the reverse of our sandblasted.  The text and/or graphics is engraved or recessed and the background is raised.  Sign layouts are once again computer generated on our CAS system and output via CNC software to a router that precision cuts your new sign. Your newly "carved" sign is then painted or stained to match your needs.
